This morning we had an excursion to a Buddhist monastery. It was just over an hour’s bus ride. The monastery covers a large area and is populated by monks and nuns, nuns can be male or female. The male nuns are novices trying out the life before committing to become a monk.
We were able to witness them lining up for their midday meal. They only eat twice a day, breakfast and the last meal has to be completed by midday, then nothing else until breakfast. The food is donated by the people who follow Buddhism.
When we get back there is an invite in our room to join the Chef’s table this evening for a 10 course culinary delight!
This afternoon we also viewed the royal palace and the monetary museum. The museum was interesting in how coins developed in Cambodia from the early 200 ad through to the destruction of currency by Pol Pot and the ultimate reintroduction after PP.
